Hi, I'm Erin — the person you'll actually be talking to when you work with Recorde Bookkeeping. Not a rotating account manager, not a support ticket, just me.

I spent seven years in public and corporate accounting before starting this practice, working with businesses of every size and across nearly every industry you can think of. That range taught me something most people don't expect from a bookkeeper: no two businesses keep their books the same way, and the ones that struggle usually aren't struggling because they're disorganized — they're struggling because nobody ever explained their numbers to them in a way that actually made sense. I started Recorde Bookkeeping to be that person for small business owners: someone who already knows how the back office runs in businesses like yours, and who'll tell you what your books are actually saying, not just hand you a report and disappear until next month.

The name is a small piece of math history I couldn't resist. In 1557, a Welsh physician and mathematician named Robert Recorde invented the "=" symbol — the equals sign — because he was tired of writing out "is equal to" over and over in his equations. He chose two parallel lines, he wrote, "because no two things can be more equal." Five hundred years later, that's still exactly the point of bookkeeping: getting both sides to actually balance, and being able to trust that they do. Recorde Bookkeeping is named after him, and it's also, not so coincidentally, an echo of the word "record" — which is the other half of the job.

I keep this practice deliberately small — just me, on purpose. That's not a limitation; it's the whole design. When you call or email, you're reaching the person who's actually looking at your accounts, not the first available rep. I'm not learning your business for the first time on every call, and I'm not handing your file off to whoever's least busy this week. You get one person who knows your numbers the way you know your business.
